Have you seen my Bra?

I decided it’s about time I made a reusable banner or display to use when I go to conventions where I’m not appearing with Zenescope to help people spot my booth or table easier. When I sign with Zenescope they have a wonderful display with awesome artwork everywhere to draw people in, it’s honestly one of the best booth designs I’ve seen. Normally I’d make a big poster of an exclusive cover that I did for the show and prop that up on an easel and sell it off, donate it to a local comic store or keep it for myself. It’s a fairly cheap way to advertise and since my style has been progressing and changing I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on something that was going to look dated a few months from now.

It took a while to choose but finally came down to this one, a cover I did for Moonstone’s “Zombies Vs. Cheerleaders”. I always run my ideas past my wife since she’ll always give me her honest opinion and let me know if something looks like shit or if a particular idea is just down right dumb. When I showed her my layout idea for this banner she said, “Could you have found something less visually offensive? Come on --there’s a topless chick grabbing her boobs, decapitated heads all over the place and blood pouring out of a locker… really, Mike?” At this moment I knew I had a winner.

Catch was that I didn’t have the high res colors and didn’t want to do it in black and white so I assisted in the aid of my close friend Sanju Nivangune who did an awesome job here. Now, this will not be the officially published cover. The official colors for publishing were done by an amazing fellow Zenescope artist Jeff Balke due out some time in the spring.
