Escape From Wonderland

Before you is something that was a real joy to work on. Pages 5 and 6 in Zenescope's "Escape from Wonderland" #6. I've drawn several covers for the series, but to have worked on interior pages was just awesome. Aside from working with Zenescope this is one of my faveorite stories in a long time. It was a light at the end of the long dark tunnel of Alice In Wonderland renditions we've all seen over the years. Countless movies and books have payed homage to the original Wonderland story, from "Pans Laberenth" to the first "Resident Evil" movie, but what really sets Zene's Wonderland apart from the rest is that it's not about Alice. By the end of "Beyond Wonderland" you've completely forgotten about Alice and you're rooting for Calie. ...or Johny if your a psyco path.

So is Calie's arm dislocated? Possibly. Does the story telling work? Meh. But it was a pleasure drawing my current favorite heroine in action.

When Raven first told me he was going to have several artists work on this issue I was perplexed, but he assured me it was written to work out that way and in the end this will be an awesome issue, so I agreed as long as Dan Leister (the regular artist on the series) was set to draw the finale of the book/series.

Raven originally wrote this page as a single splash with some inset panels, but after a few layout ideas I suggested a double page spread which would allow for a more dramatic execution. At first Raven wasn't sure, but after seeing the layout he agreed it was a bit cooler than what we had come up with beforehand. ...though we may have been drunk.
